This is Paul. He is our new 2 month old puppy and we already love him so much. He will stay a very small dog, he will probably end up weighing around 3 kgs. You can do anything with him, even carry him like a baby. Cute right?!
Yesterday one of my new friends asked if I wanted to go to to Hoehenpark. It's 123 acres and dates back to 1939, the very first time there was a horticultural show on the grounds. It continues to host garden shows to this day. And there is a lantern festival here in July. In the middle of the park is a 40m high lookout tower, which the following photos were taken from. There is a small train that goes through the park for children, a farm with pigs, goats, chickens, a swimming pool, playgrounds, traditional restaurants for the region and cafes. Marie loves to go to the farm and see the animals, so it's good to know that it's not too far from home. (Click on the photos to view them at a larger size).
Last night Melanie and Marie flew to Egypt for a short holiday which means I have most of this week free. On Saturday morning, while Melanie packed, I took Marie to Kölle Zoo. It is a huge pet shop and also a plant store. There are two cafes and an indoor playground. And any possible pet care and planting need you could dream of, is able to be fulfilled there. Kölle Zoo is just a 15 minute walk from our house. We feed the fish, looked at the rabbits, spiders (Marie is fascinated with spiders), turtles and snakes. She also had a huuuge ice cream.
As we were walking there Marie had a bit of a melt down, and I told her I don't like it when she cries. On the way home she, without any prompting, told me she was sorry for crying and she wouldn't cry again that day. I thought it was really cute of her, and she had obviously been thinking about how she was behaving. I defintely feel like in the last week my German has improved dramatically. I understand almost everything Marie says now, and I'm glad because she has some pretty funny ideas about things. For example, while we were walking she asked me if I could look after Papa (Thomas) while she is away because he gets very sad if he is alone. Awww. |
