A few weeks ago Marie and I went to the zoo here in Stuttgart. It's quite unique in that it is a combination of animals, historical buildings and botanical gardens. First we went to the butterfly house, which is like a giant greenhouse with butterflies flying around. If you are still enough they will land on you.
The zoo is smaller than what I expected but all of the typical zoo animals are of course there. I think the elephant enclosure is way to small, and I mentioned it to my host Mum and she said she has always thought that too. They are working on upgrading certain enclosures one by one. But still, poor elephants.
There is a new "ape house" which is very cool. There are many baby monkeys and they were so cute playing with their parents and coming right up to the glass. But not so cute is seeing the Papa monkeys eating their own poop.
We watched the polar bears for a long time and Marie coloured in her activity book. There are also many playgrounds scattered around the grounds, so of course we played on them too. And had the obligatory ice cream stop. Because when you are with Marie, eating ice cream becomes a daily necessity.

I can't believe that it's nearing the end of May soon! This year is going fast and sometimes it scares me. Next weekend Marie is getting baptized so we will be having a big BBQ/party in the garden for her. At the start of June I will be going to Switzerland for a few days and then to Northern Germany a couple of weeks later. Hopefully I will make it to Austria at the end of next month for a week. That's the thing when you see how fast time is going, at least it makes me realise I need to use my time wisely.
